Through-floor home lifts that plug into a normal socket and need no load-bearing wall.
Stiltz Ltd is a UK manufacturer of domestic through-floor lifts, an alternative to a stairlift if you would rather travel between floors seated in a chair of your own, standing, or in a wheelchair. The Duo+ carries two people and takes up 0.55 square metres — less than seven square feet — while the wheelchair-friendly Trio+ carries three and takes 1.25 square metres. The lifts run on a self-supporting dual-rail design, so no load-bearing wall is needed, and plug into an ordinary 13-amp socket, using about as much power as a kettle. Building work typically takes three to four days. A home visit and detailed quote come before a technical survey. Before you commit
- Get a written quotation and never agree to a price on the doorstep or over the phone.
- Take your time. A genuine company will not pressure you with a "today only" discount.
- Ask a family member or friend to sit in on the visit if you can.
- Check whether you qualify for VAT relief, a council grant, or free equipment first.
- You normally have 14 days to cancel an order agreed at home or online, though bespoke fitted items can be an exception — get the cancellation terms in writing.
